Job Description: Commis Chef

Position Title: Commis Chef

Contract Length: 8 months on/2 months off

Minimum Hours Per Week: 70 hours

Average Hours Per Week/Day: 80-90 hours per week / 10-12 hours per day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow recipe standards, correct usage and care of equipment, proper storage and stock rotation.
  • Prep and peel vegetables, slice cheese, prepare salads, collect pots and pans, and perform general culinary duties as assigned.
  • Rotate through various galley sections on a bi-monthly basis.
  • Clean and sanitize workstation according to USPH standards.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of experience in a high-volume professional kitchen.
  • Formal culinary education preferred.
  • Ship experience is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work in any section of the kitchen and rotate positions as necessary, including working in cold prep rooms.
  • Hygiene certification preferable.
